More than 300 people who have followed courses at Cyberwave Computing 2000 have graduated.

This year’s graduation ceremony, which is a biennial event, took place at the International Conference Centre last Saturday in the presence of the new vice-chancellor of the University of Seychelles Dennis Hardy, other distinguished guests, as well as those who followed the courses and their families.

People from different work places and individuals attended different courses such as GIS and AutoCAD, Electronic Hardware and Networking, Graphics and Website Design, QuickBooks, Microsoft Word and Excel, Microsoft Access and Power Point and Publisher and Typing.

The graduates received a certificate signed by the director of the Cyberwave Computing 2000 Mario Rotolo.

Congratulating the graduates, Mr Rotolo said this is but a stepping stone for more success in their professional lives.

He also noted his satisfaction at seeing some people coming to the courses from nowhere and at the end getting a certificate that will help them in securing a good job.

There was a special prize for the student who attended most courses and whose attendance, punctuality and discipline record were excellent and the winner of this Best Overall award went to Nathasha Dodin.

Nathasha is a communication and membership assistant at the Liaison Unit for Non-Governmental Organisations of Seychelles (LUNGOS). She had been following courses at Cyberwave Computing 2000 since 2010. She took Website Design with CMS, Microsoft Office Publisher 2007 Level 1 & Level 2, Advanced Microsoft Excel 2007, QuickBooks Accounting, Microsoft Office Access 2007 Basic & Intermediate, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 Basic & Intermediate, Microsoft Office Excel 2007 Basic & Intermediate, Microsoft Office Word 2007 Basic & Intermediate, and Keyboard Skills.

“By winning the Best Overall I feel very happy, proud and motivated to accomplish more. I would like to say a warm and well deserved thank you to Mr Rotolo and Ms Lina Jeremie (the instructors).  I am grateful for their kindness, time and patience they have given me and they have inspired me to achieve my goal. I also thank my family, work colleagues and friends for the encouragement and support,” Nathasha said.

She noted that anyone who manages their time correctly can achieve anything they want.

“I did not get much difficulty during my studies. I stayed focused, I concentrated, listened and I did not miss classes. I had faith throughout my courses,” she said.

Nathasha said she is putting all she had learned into good practice in her professional life.

She has this piece of advice for anyone who wishes to take up courses at Cyberwave Computing 2000.

“I advise other people to go and follow a course at Cyberwave Computing 2000. It can open doors to more job opportunities and you get to broaden your knowledge in IT (Information Technology).

There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure. I take this opportunity to congratulate all the students and wish them the best in their future.”

During the ceremony those present could also enjoy a few performances by some local artists such as Jakhim with his famous song “Donn ou bal”.
