Leaders to open debate on state-of-the-nation address |03 March 2014

Leaders of both sides in the National Assembly will today open debate on the state-of-the-nation address for the year 2014.

Leader of government business Marie-Antoinette Rose and leader of the opposition David Pierre will be the first to speak by giving their replies to the address.

This will be followed by three days of debates by other members of the National Assembly.

President James Michel delivered his 10th nationwide state-of-the-nation address on Wednesday February 26, 2014.

It is a constitutional requirement that the head of state delivers a state-of-the nation address on the occasion of the first National Assembly sitting each year.
