Nisa’s women employees learn more about work life balance |08 March 2014

To mark International Women’s Day, the National Information Services Agency (Nisa) organised a two-hour seminar under the theme ‘Work life balance’ for all its women employees.

The seminar was done at the Seychelles Nation office and it was led by Marie-Celine Zialor, lecturer and head of programme at the School of Business Management of the University of Seychelles.

The aim of the seminar was to help the women find a balance between their professional and personal life.

During the discussion many employees found that they give more time to their work rather than to their personal life, meaning their families.

“You need to take control as in every situation you have a choice,” Ms Zialor said.

The employees also explored issues that affect the work life balance of Seychellois women. Some of the issues that were raised are the culture and tradition about the expectations others have towards women.

Ms Zialor gave some steps about how to better balance professional and personal life. Among those were to set both short and long-term goals.

She also asked women working for Nisa to jot down some of their boosters activities and drainers activities.

“Hopefully it will get you thinking and help you make some positive changes in your life,” Ms Zialor said at the end of the seminar.

Thanking Ms Zialor for the session, Nisa’s chief executive Merlin Volcère said: “The session itself has been a booster activity for me as I feel refreshed”.
