Miss Seychelles contestants debut charity mission on women’s day |10 March 2014

The 12 contestants for the Miss Seychelles … Another World 2014 beauty pageant went on their first assignment on Saturday as they took part in a charity event.

To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, they visited nurses and new mothers at the maternity ward at the Seychelles Hospital.

As a sign of appreciation the girls presented the nurses and the new mothers with a pink rose and a red ribbon.

“I would like to wish every woman a happy women’s day. I thank you nurses for devoting your time and strength for the work that you are doing and even if it is not much we do hope that the rose and ribbon show our appreciation for what you are doing in the society,” said Camilla Estico on behalf of all the other contestants.

Jeannine Marimba, midwife and senior nursing office at the maternity ward, thanked the contestants for the gesture and added: “I would like to take this opportunity to also wish all of you contestants, good luck in the journey ahead of you.”

Seychelles Tourism Board deputy chief executive Nathalie Didon, who was accompanying the girls, also thanked the nurses for the hard work.

“I thank all our partners who have helped us to come here today to say thank you and show our appreciation to the midwives and nurses for they are the ones helping the mothers give birth,” Ms Didon said
“I will also take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for today – Red Corals for sponsoring the girls their T-Shirts and Rosebelle for the roses,” she added.
