To celebrate International Women’s Day on Saturday (March 8) the Soroptomist Club of Victoria hosted a film show at the Deepam’s Cinema which screened the movie Goddess.

The club comprises a group of 24 women who do charitable work in the society. And their aim is to change women’s life in a positive way.

Chairperson Eurika Naidoo, who was selling tickets outside the cinema, said:

“Even if the ticket sale for the film is not that good we are happy to have shown the film to the girls of Foyer de la Solitude, La Misère,” Mrs Naidoo said.

She said that the group has adopted the home and they donate according to the needs of the girls.

After the film show the group organised a lunch for the elderly of the St Elizabeth Convent, for the girls and the nuns at the Foyer de la Solitude. The lunch was served at the St Elizabeth Convent.
