SPDF gets four new commissioned officers |23 April 2014

Four new officers of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF) have been commissioned as second lieutenant.
The ceremony took place recently at the SPDF headquarters, Bel Eau.

Second Lieutenant Marlon Charlie from the SPDF headquarters, Second Lieutenant Luigi Loizeau and Denis Jeremie from the Seychelles Coast Guard, and Second Lieutenant Stan Tomking from the Seychelles Air Force were presented with their new epaulettes and commissioning certificates by the Chief of Defence Forces Brigadier Leopold Payet.

Brigadier Payet congratulated the new officers, offered words of wisdom and wished them all the best on their new appointment as Commissioned Officers. The short ceremony was attended by SPDF Chief of Staff Colonel Clifford Roseline, deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant Colonel Michael Rosette and other senior SPDF officers.

The four officers were groomed through the Military Young Officers Programme (MYOP) and have recently returned in the country after successfully completing their pre-commissioning course at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, India.

The young officers will be posted to different SPDF units where they will work under supervision of more experienced officers.
They are also expected to undergo further training and specialisation relating to their chosen trade.

There are currently over a dozen prospective officers undergoing training in various foreign military academies, namely in Greece, India, Tanzania and the United Kingdom.
