SPTC announces special bus services for carnival weekend |24 April 2014

The Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) has introduced special bus services to cater for commuters who would want to partake in the various fun-filled activities for this carnival weekend.

For the opening ceremony tomorrow evening, additional buses will leave the different districts up to 7.30pm to the Victoria Bus Terminal (depending on load).

After the opening ceremony, buses will depart the Victoria Bus Terminal as from 9pm, with the last ones departing at 12.30am (half past midnight) to the districts.

On Saturday April 26, the day of the main carnival parade, additional buses will leave the different districts at 11.30am to the Victoria Bus Terminal (depending on load). All buses from South and North Mahé should reach the terminal by 1.30pm.  

The last scheduled buses for South will leave the Victoria Terminal at 1.30pm.  The same applies for buses going via St. Louis.  

As from 1.30pm buses from the South will drop off and pick up passengers at the Mont Fleuri secondary school campus and operate as per the normal Saturday schedule.  (The same applies for routes like Forêt Noire, Belvedere, Copolia).

As for buses travelling to and from North Mahé, there will be no Glacis via Beau Vallon, Bel Ombre, Le Niol buses leaving the Victoria Bus Terminal as from 1.30pm.

Instead, there will be a shuttle service to and from Bel Ombre from ‘Vines Bus Stop’ every 30 minutes depending on demand.  The same applies for Le Niol buses.  All passengers going towards Le Niol and Bel Ombre will have to wait for buses at the ‘Vines bus stop’.

Glacis via Anse Etoile buses will turn at Bel Ombre and return to the Victoria Terminal via Glacis.

Buses going to Curio, Sans Soucis and Port Launay via Sans Soucis will depart from Bel Air bus stop near the cemetery as per their normal schedule.

Buses going to Roche Bois and Mont Buxton will go via Union Vale Road to and from the Victoria Bus Terminal.

Services to Ma Joie, North East Point, Sea View, Quincy, Perseverance, Maldive routes will not be affected.

After the carnival, buses will leave the Victoria Bus Terminal at 7pm to the districts.  Buses will also depart districts to Victoria terminal at 7pm.

The last buses will leave the terminal at 11pm to the districts depending on load.

On Sunday April 27, additional buses will leave the districts to the Victoria Bus Terminal as from 10am depending on load.

Last buses will leave the Victoria Bus Terminal at 7pm to the districts.

With regard to bus fares, commuters will pay the normal R5 fare before 8pm. The night service rate at R8 will apply after 8pm.
