Braided hairstyles for all occasions |09 May 2014

Braids are an easy and so pleasant way to forget about hair styling for months, give your hair some rest and protect it from harsh environmental factors. Besides, braided hairstyles can attract attention and admiring glances.

For many Seychellois who prefer choosing braided hairstyles, they do it so as not to worry about styling their hair everyday! As for schoolchildren, it is less hassle for their mum to indulge in such chore of combing and styling their hair every morning as this specific time of day is rush hour time to arrive at school, work or to catch the bus on time!

Braided hairstyles make space for creativity. There are many interesting braiding techniques to make every head unique. Besides, you can experiment with highlights, natural or curly texture, clips, patterns, shapes, etc.

Natural perm and hair thickness is your big plus and a unique bonus that you simply can’t leave unused. Your hair, that you might have been complaining of before, is created for braids. So why not use this idea to your advantage?

Braiding is very versatile: microbraids, cornrows, fishtail braids, blocky braids, black braided buns, twist braids, tree braids, hair bands, French braids and more are at your disposal. Once you pick a desired braiding style, thickness and have your hair braided, you may shape your braids into gorgeous hairstyles both for every day and special events.

They say braids were “in fashion” even 2000 years b.c. If they have survived till our time, there definitely must be something special in them, don’t you think? No wonder, every year world-famous designers experiment with braids at fashion shows.

Braid styles

There are various braid styles as mentioned earlier in the article. Cornrows are from the most popular, traditional braid hairstyles among the Afro-American women. To create them, women have to braid their hair very close to the scalp using an underhand, upward motion. Although this process seems to be so easy and simple, it needs great effort and time to be done. Besides cornrows, the black beauties can opt for wearing either the pixie or micro braids, which are so trendy and known by their sexy look. I know that there are some of you who might say “what’s the difference? They are the same!” Okay, let’s admit that they have things in common, such as both of them are nothing but tiny English braids and can last for weeks. But there’s still a difference, which is that the pixie braids are smaller than the micro ones.

Also, the African women can opt for wearing the box braid and kinky twist hairdos, which are from the traditional styles too. Concerning the first ones, you need to know that they are obtained by braiding 3 or 4 hair strands in a way that creates the shape of a box. On the other hand, concerning the kinky twists, they’re done by weaving two parts of the hair together into tight spirals. You have to know that both of these ‘dos can last for weeks if, and only if, they’re maintained properly. In addition to all of the last mentioned spectacular and fashionable, traditional hairstyles, the black bombshells can opt for wearing the other styles of braids such as the fishtail and French ones. What can prevent them? Actually nothing!

Wait, there are three important things that you have to know. The first thing is that whatever your hair length is, short, medium or long, you can find the suitable braided hairdo for you, especially among the traditional styles. The second one that you need to know is that there are two options in front of you. The first one is to wear fully braided hair and style it in any way you want, while the second option is to mix your braids with any of the other hairdos such as the straight ‘dos, curly ‘dos, ponytails, buns, etc. The third thing that you must do is take your facial shape, hair texture and personal style into consideration while picking your hairdo.

Men’s braids hairstyles
Men’s braids hairstyles are growing more and more popular due to the fact that men are now able to have longer hair without the rejection of employment, education, or society’s ridicule. As we all know men’s hair grows faster than that of women because of the increased blow circulation that in turn increases the growth rate of their hair.

It is amazing to see a woman and a man begin to grow their hair at the same date, but the man’s hair will almost always grow faster than that of the woman’s.

Another reason for this is the fact that we as women love to wear our hair in many different styles, colors, and fashion. While men will simply wear braids, a ponytail, or let it all just hang out.
Women over manipulate their hair to get that desired style whereas most men just leave their hair alone. And there you have it! That’s how you get your hair to grow, leave it alone. Put your hair up in a protective hairstyle and stop over manipulating it. So that’s what brings us to men’s braids hairstyles.

Men’s braids hairstyles are amazing to see. I have seen just about everything you can do with braids on a man’s hair. Whether it is a braided money symbol, braided flower, or a braided maze, these styles can be jaw dropping. Hey, just because men do not over manipulate their hair, they still like to be showstoppers in their own way.

Men’s braids can be long, short, beaded, shelled, pulled up, etc. It seems that a lot of time men’s braids hairstyles are the ones that really need to be on display because of the creativity that goes into them. Some of these styles are very crazy and fun.

I love to look at pictures of men’s braids hairstyles, although I would never wear the styles myself. One key reason why men’s braids tend to grow is because they typically do not use weave or heavy extensions that break their hair.

They get their hair redone every two to three weeks so their hair is not in the braid style too long. Then on the days when they cannot find someone to braid their hair, they will wash it and put it up in a ponytail.

This gives their hair a break and yet their hair is still in a protective hair style. And as you’ve heard me say time and time again, protective hairstyles grow your hair.
So now you know why men’s hair grows faster than women’s hair, why men’s braids hairstyles are so good for the hair, and why men wear their hair in braids.
