2014 Fifa World Cup - All World Cup games live on SBC |04 June 2014

Local football fans who are not subscribed to the cable TV with Intelvision need not worry as the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) has confirmed it will be broadcasting all the 2014 Fifa World Cup matches live.

SBC’s head of programming Maryse Legaie told Sports Nation that they have come to an agreement with the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) who will be providing them with coverage of all World Cup matches.

There have been some concerns among football enthusiasts regarding the timing of some of the matches which will kick in the early hours and when asked if SBC will be rebroadcasting the games, Ms Legaie replied: “At the moment we have no plans to re-broadcast the matches as they will interfere with our programme schedule.”

She however, said that should they decide to do so, they will inform the public.

The World Cup kicks off on June 12 at midnight local time where hosts Brazil will play the opening match of the tournament against Croatia. The final will be played on July 13 at 11pm.

The time at which the matches will be played vary, with some starting as early as 8pm local time and the later ones even going up to 5am.

The defending champions of the competition are Spain who defeated the Netherlands after extra-time, four years ago in South Africa.
