Cable and Wireless Lucky Lottery - Margaret Fred grand winner |06 June 2014

Margaret Fred will receive a cheque for R8,000 every month for 24 months!
This after she emerged as the lucky winner of the Cable and Wireless’ (CWS) Lucky Lottery.

“I could not believe I had won the first prize,” says Ms Fred, mother of two girls who lives at Au Cap.

She said she was busy doing chores at home when she got a call from Terry Servina, public relations and events manager at the CWS, announcing that she was the lucky winner of the lottery.

“After I hung up I went down on my knees and thanked God,” she recalls. “I am so happy and my family and friends are also happy for me, even though they couldn’t believe it either. I had a plan to renovate my house and with this monthly income I can achieve that goal.”

“We wanted to offer a thrilling prize that would have a unique impact on an individual’s life,” says Herve Atayi, marketing intelligence manager at CWS.  “The idea to give a cheque at the end of each month for a period of two years may be unorthodox, however, it is quite appealing and we hope we have made a great impact in Margaret’s life. We also hope the other winners will enjoy using their devices.”

Petrina Marie was the second prize winner and she has won an iPad 4 with one-year subscription on click 2000, plus a submersible table dry case with waterproof earphone and microphone.
Alvarez Gutierrez Sebastien won the third prize and his reward is an HTC One also with one-year subscription on the Koze 700 and a submersible table dry case with waterproof earphone and microphone.

“This has proven a great way to reward customers for using our services and keeping them engaged with the company,” says Thomas Dauban, CWS human resources director. He was speaking on behalf of the chief executive at the prize giving event held at the Exiles club in honour of the top three winners. “It has been an effective avenue to enhance customer experience; once more we uphold our value of keeping customers in the heart of what we do,” he said.

Mr Dauban further elaborated on the dedication of CWS to reward customers for using CWS services through the company’s loyalty programme – Cable Points. He also encouraged customers to register to Cable Points so they can receive free rewards.

He elaborated on the customer loyalty programme saying, “we reward customers for using our services through Cable Points. This has been in place since 2011 and we have quickly grown to include more innovative ways of rewarding customers and adding to our rewards range. Last year Cable Points’ success earned Cable and Wireless a finalist award for the Best Loyalty Programme of the year at the annual Loyalty Awards 2013 in London. This year we are finalists in three categories in the Africa, Middle East and Europe region for best mobile loyalty, best short term promotion in loyalty and best communication in loyalty.”

Before thanking all those who took part in the Lucky Lottery he also extended an invitation to all customers to make the most of CWS’ offers.
“All of our efforts are geared towards improving and enhancing your experience,” he said, “and I truly hope you make the most of them.”

There were also consolation prizes for 50 more participants and their names, along with the names of the top three Lucky Lottery winners, have been published in the newspapers.

A total of 60 customers have been lucky in the bi-weekly draws leading up to the Lucky Lottery draw and winners have been collecting their prizes, which included mobile phones, tablets, dongles and MiFi devices, at the CWS Customer Service Office in Victoria.

CWS’ Lucky Lottery has been running for the last two months and it was open to all Cable & Wireless registered prepaid and residential post-paid mobile customers. The electronic tickets cost only R2 each (Vat included) and customers purchased the same by sending an SMS with the word “Lucky” to 9260. Those with mobile Cable Points could redeem 50 points per electronic ticket.
