President’s Award Programme - 175 get silver, bronze awards |09 June 2014

A group of 175 youths who have been following the President’s Award Programme have received their bronze and silver awards in a ceremony held at the International Conference Centre on Saturday.

The awardees received their certificates and pins in the presence of Vice-President Danny Faure, the Minister for Home Affairs and Transport Jöel Morgan, the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Andre Pool, British high commissioner Lindsay Skoll, principal secretary for Youth Alain Volcère, chief executive of the Seychelles National Council (SNYC) Vicky Van der Westhuizen, chaiperson of SNYC board Vanessa Seth, parents, among other guests.

“Today your efforts are being rewarded and I join with your parents and everyone present here to congratulate you on your success,” PS Volcère said in his speech for the occasion.

He urged the awardees to use the experience they have gained to bring positive changes within their schools and their community.

“Do not hesitate to bring families, friends and colleagues to join the President’s Award Programme so that they too can get the chance to benefit from the programme,” said Mr Volcère.

During the ceremony the Award Choir sang the award song while Rebecca Hoareau, a bronze awardee, gave a small presentation of her experience through animated story.

Stacey Leveiller read out a vote thanks to all those who have helped them achieve their awards.

The President's Award Scheme is a programme of cultural, practical, and adventurous activities covering four different areas namely service, expedition, skills and physical recreation and is open to youths aged between 14 and 25 years.

The scheme is divided into three categories namely the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.
