Founder of Chez Plume restaurant passes away |14 July 2014

Chez Plume restaurant, together with Auberge Anse Boileau, have lost their owner.
Jean-Claude Plumas, who set up the two businesses twenty years ago, passed away on Saturday June 28, 2014 in La Reunion and was buried on Saturday July 5, 2014 at the Anse Boileau cemetery.

Mr Plumas was known as ‘Plume’ to the Seychellois public. He left behind wife Lindi, daughter Nathalie, son-in-law Marcus and grand children Gregory, Earl and Megane.

Together with his wife Lindi Plumas, the couple have been managing the hotel and restaurant for more than 20 years. The Auberge Anse Boileau is a small hotel with nine rooms and Chez Plume is a restaurant which is open for dinner only.

“We do Creole food, seafood and fish with different sauces and our specialty are crab ginger, Capitaine fish with passion fruit, fruit bat pate and passion fruit soufflé. These are enjoyed by both tourists and locals,” says Mrs Plumas when describing what the restaurant has to offer.
She says that she will continue what she and her husband started 20 years ago.

Mr Plumas was both French-Seychellois and had been here since 1988. According to his wife, he considered Seychelles as his country.
She says that before he passed away, he told her to rest his body where it is now laid.
According to the Petit Fute Seychelles online, Mr Plumas had this to say when he first set foot in Seychelles 20 years ago: « Je n’en reviens toujours pas de voir aussi peu de monde pour tant de beauté ».
