Seychellois marine engineer student excels in studies |29 July 2014

Marine engineering student Sam Clarisse has excelled in his studies and continues to show great potential in his career.

Seychelles Petroleum Company (Seypec) shared Mr Clarisse’s success in a press release yesterday.

The release writes that Mr Clarisse, a 28-year-old from Belvedere, received his Bachelor of Engineering in Marine and Plant Engineering with distinction from the Cork Institute in Ireland following sponsorship of his studies through the Agency for National Human Resource Development (ANHRD).

His excellent performance enabled him to further benefit from an additional graduate scholarship in management awarded by the Institute of Commercial Management in Dublin which he succeeded again with distinction.

Mr Clarisse is now licensed as an Engineer Officer of the Watch (third engineer) and Seypec is now providing him with the opportunity to further his career by easing his placement on the German Tanker Shipping (GTS) fleet, the same company that manages Seypec’s tanker fleet.

The placement would provide Mr Clarisse with sea time and qualify him to sit for his Second Engineer Exams after 12 months of accumulating sea time.

Seypec chief executive Conrad Benoiton has congratulated Mr Clarisse on his perseverance in his studies and the excellent results achieved, adding that he is an example to other marine students pursuing such a career.

Mr Clarisse leaves the country today to pursue his placement on the GTS tankers.
