14 teachers on varsity studies in Botswana |30 July 2014

Fourteen science and social science teachers left Seychelles on Tuesday July 22, 2014 for further training at the University of Botswana.

The teachers, who have all previously completed their Diplomas or Advanced Diplomas in Education, have been enrolled on the Bachelor of Education (BEd) programme at the University of Botswana due to start on Monday August 4, 2014.

Before leaving, the students met Ministry of Education officials for briefings, firstly to be informed of their selection for further studies as well as to discuss preparations for their departure.

During one of the briefings a past Seychellois student, a member of the previous group of four teachers who this year completed studies also at the University of Botswana, was present to share her experience and give her fellow teachers advice on what to expect both for studies as well as living in Botswana.

The final briefing was held at the Agency of National Human Resources Development (ANHRD) whereby the teachers along with their guarantors signed their bonding agreements and were issued with their travelling documents.

According to Françoise Mein, the director training & development at ANHRD who is currently in Botswana with the students, all is being done to ensure that the registration process goes smoothly.

She has confirmed that all the students are settling in well in preparation for the start of their studies.

The Ministry of Education takes this opportunity to wish the 14 teachers courage and success in their studies so as to further develop their career in teaching.
