‘Parfum Vanille’ concert |31 July 2014

Promoting Seychelles’ music beyond our shores

The Parfum Vanille concert organised last Saturday was an opportunity to promote Seychelles music not just locally but beyond our frontiers, said organiser David Andre.

David, one of Seychelles’ prominent singer/composers who is also a talented guitarist, organised the concert in collaboration with Reunion musician Fredéric Goron.

The show, held at the International Conference Centre, was an occasion for members of the public to have an avant gout of David’s new compositions as well as those of the famous Reunion musician.

The concert was divided into three parts: in the first part David regaled the audience with a repertoire of his compositions while the second part was dedicated to Frederic. In the final part, the audience were entertained with a mixture of Seychelles and Reunion music.

“This concert is proof of the commitment of the artists of the region to working together. It is also a starting point to try and push Seychelles’ music forward and beyond Seychelles frontiers,” David told Seychelles Nation after the show.

“As organiser I did everything possible to advertise the concert. But in the end it is up to the people to choose from the wide range of activities that were taking place at the same time. In my opinion, I believe that not everybody know the real value of music. Most of them enjoy only the entertainment side of music. I am not here to point fingers but I believe it is my duty to try and educate people on the real value on music,” David said.
