International School Seychelles: Karaoke party wraps up holiday club |27 August 2014

In an action-packed six weeks of fun and learning, nearly 40 children from the International School of Seychelles (ISS) and elsewhere have enjoyed a programme of arts and crafts, story telling, creativewriting, cooking, computers … and even ballroom dancing!

Each week has been based on a theme and has included trips around the island as well as activities at the ISS.

In addition to trips to beaches, the swimming pool at Roche Caiman and the Paradis des Enfants (Victoria Family Fun Park), the ‘Mini Beasts’ week included a lecture at the University of Seychelles; ‘Amazing Race’ featured a trip to the airport – including a ride on the fire engines; and ‘Fairytales’ transformed the back of the school into Rapunzel’s tower.

A week of ‘Going Green’ saw trips to Mission Lodge and to see art from recycling at Apana Studio; ‘Pirates’ included a trip across the island to Maria’s Rock; and the last week - ‘The Best of the Best’- culminated with karaoke and a wonderful party atmosphere.

Coordinated by Hafiza Talma, the Holiday Club entertains children from ISS and from other parts of the Mahé community during the school holidays.

Commenting on this holiday programme, ISS headteacher Karl Wilkinson said he is “in awe of the wonderful things Mrs Hafiza and her team - Florence, Vivienne, Diana, Tracey, Zarah, Corina, and Juliette, backed up by the ever-considerate driver, Vivian – get up to with the children every long break”.
