Berjaya celebrates 20 years in Seychelles |02 September 2014

The Malaysian Hotel chain Berjaya is celebrating 20 years since it has been operating in Seychelles.

Back in 1994, Berjaya bought three local resorts, the then Beau Vallon Bay, Praslin Beach and Mahé Beach at Port Glaud. The Berjaya Mahé Beach has since closed down but the two others still carry the international brand name.

To mark the occasion, the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort and Casino as it is now called, has rewarded its employees who have worked with the hotel since its opening.

As a sign of recognition and gratitude, the management treated the workers to a lunch in the hotel’s restaurant yesterday, taking the occasion to offer them a gift and presenting them with a long serving certificate.

The general manager Gulab Rai thanked his most ancient employees for the years of dedication and loyalty.

He said that their presence has permitted them “to build the business hand in hand together”.

Promising that many more activities and developments were to come; he added that the anniversary was another stepping stone for the hotel as it prepares for the future.

“Without one another the establishment will not move. We need the leaders but we also need the support of the staff. You have built a strong foundation. Let us now continue with the construction work,” he remarked.

The lunch eventually turned into a party where the invitees sung and danced the afternoon away.

Veteran artist Jean-Paul Cecile, who has also spent 20 years working for the hotel, entertained his colleagues with some old hits.

The other Berjaya hotel is also expected to reward its long serving staff in its own way.
