Rotary supports fight against drug abuse |03 September 2014

The Rotary Club of Victoria has given another boost to the campaign against drug abuse.

The club has produced an anti-drug poster aimed at educating the public especially the youths on the dangers of using drugs.

The poster, which sports a Seychelles footballer juggling a ball on the astroturf playing field at Roche Caïman, has as its slogan ‘Be smart – stay away from drugs’. The poster, which has cost R10,000, has been placed at the entrance of the Roche Caïman sports complex.

Dr Velmurugan Naganathan of the Rotary Club said that as the club is against all social ills, it has decided to give a helping hand in the campaign against the use of drugs among the population.

He also said that the committee has chosen football for its first poster because of the popularity of the game here.

“Rotary Club will in the near future have other posters with different other sports disciplines as logos which will be put up in other areas and also in districts including Praslin and La Digue,” he said.

Rotary Club of Victoria has thanked the National Sports Council (NSC) for providing the space and is hoping that the poster achieves its aim of contributing positively to the fight against drugs.
