Male prisoners follow inner peace session |13 September 2014

Some 20 male inmates of the Montagne Posée prison have followed a session about inner peace delivered by counselor Beryl Dodin.

The session falls under the Values for One, Values for All programme and it was Seychelles National Youth Council deputy chief executive Alvin Laurence who launched it early yesterday morning.

The value chosen for the month of September is peace and the aim of the session was to talk to the inmates about inner peace, how to resolve conflicts and how to control anger.

“This is our contribution in preparing the inmates to be ready to face the real world when they get out of prison. In our deliberations at the SNYC, we came to the conclusion that we need to work with inmates as they prepare to leave the prison to reintegrate into society,” said Ms Dodin.

The Values for One, Values for All programme was officially launched earlier this year and so far the SNYC has organised over 50 workshops.

“We are having a number of activities in the districts and they are all being driven by the youths”, said Mr Laurence.
The inner-peace session will be extended to female inmates in the coming weeks.
