Preparations for piloting of PPBB on track |17 September 2014

The Ministry of Education is nearing the final stages of preparations for the piloting of the Programme Performance Based Budgeting (PPBB).
In line with those preparations a working session was held from August 18-29, 2014 at the ministry’s headquarters, Mont Fleuri.

Run with the help of World Bank finance specialist Adrienne Shall, the session was a follow-up workshop in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Investment, as preparations for piloting due for implementation in 2015.

The adoption of PPBB is in line with reforms through which the government intends to change its budgeting process, improve alignment and allocation of expenditure with government objectives and achievement of results.

The Ministry of Education’s Medium Term Strategic (MTS) plan 2013-2017 has been central to the preparation of the ministry’s PPBB process.

The objective of the World Bank’s mission was to continue to provide support to the Ministry of Education to finalise the PPBB process in preparation for piloting.

The workshop sessions were attended by members of education senior management, heads of post secondary educational institutions and representative of agencies falling under the portfolio of the ministry.
