Jouel celebrates 10th birthday |18 September 2014

It was in 2004 that Jouel opened its first outlet at the Mahe International Airport and 10 years after the company has more than eight locations country wide providing seven unique jewellery collections.

The Seychelles-based company hosted a small cocktail last Friday at the Kenwyn House to celebrate its 10 years of existence among highly distinguished guests including the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange who was given the honour to address the guests present.

“For Jouel to be celebrating 10 years in Seychelles is proof of a job well-done. Jouel has shown that in Seychelles we have the potential to bring an up market shopping for some sort of market like the Chinese market. Now as we are looking at other trade to bring in we need to congratulate Jouel and encourage others to do like them in other avenues where we can show tourists looking for shopping that Seychelles has it,” Minster St Ange said.

During the cocktail the guests could admire the newest collection of Jouel through a fashion show whereby models showed off the different pieces of the seven unique jewellery collections.

“We are very proud to have survived and succeeded for 10 years. I am very happy and proud for my team for we have been in here during Seychelles’ transitional years. Business-wise we have known the right time to invest that makes us to be here in this event today,” managing director Rod Thorrington said.

He took the opportunity to give a brief history of Jouel and announced that Jouel will be offering a new service at the Kenwyn House outlet.

“We will be offering goldsmith jeweller service whereby we will be creating upon demands, size and even repair jewellery for clients,” he said.
Guests could also get any required information from the staff present.

Jouel employs 35 persons all but one being Seychellois, and offers extensive jewellery and customer services training to all its staff members.
Over the past 10 years Jouel has partnered with various organisations including non-governmental organisations and governmental to support different community-based projects.
