SPTC reorganises operation as new residents move to Perseverance |23 September 2014

An increase in commuters to and from Perseverance has led the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation to make adjustments to its bus schedule.

The Perseverance population has increased as new residents have just moved in after receiving the keys to their houses.

The Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) has said during morning and afternoon peak hours –from 5.30am to 8.30am and from 2pm to 6pm – buses to and from Perseverance will operate every 10 minutes with all services operating with large capacity buses. This will become effective October 1, 2014.
Last year, the SPTC constructed an additional bus shelter located adjacent to its head office for that purpose.

In addition, there will be specific buses for Perseverance 1 and 2 during peak hours. Boarding for Perseverance 1 is at platform W and for Perseverance 2 at platform X. However, during off peak periods, services to both housing estates will be combined, boarding will be on platform W and services will operate as per existing schedule.

Students residing at Perseverance attending school outside their zones will be allowed on public buses between 5.30am and 7am only. To note, there are already dedicated school bus services from Perseverance to the following schools: Plaisance at 7.15am and Mont Fleuri and English River at 7.20am.

SPTC will also introduce a special school bus service from Perseverance 1 to the Perseverance 2 primary school in the morning, with return service in the afternoon.  Students will pay the normal R2 fare per trip.

Meanwhile, the SPTC is also relocating boarding points to a few destinations. This follows proposals from members of the public and is also as part of its effort to offer convenient service to its valued commuters.

•    Ma Joie to move to platform U along with Les Mamelles
•    Union Vale will be relocated to platform P (Copolia, Vilaz Trezor, Mont Signal)
•    Boarding for Quincy will now be on platform T (Belvedere, Forêt Noire)
•    Baie Lazare via Takamaka circular La Misère to be relocated from platform B to platform R (Baie Lazare via Takamaka, Intendance, Dame Le Roi)
•    Anse Boileau via La Misère will move from platform B to N (Baie Lazare via La Misère)

SPTC seizes this opportunity to thank members of the public for their understanding and cooperation.  Meanwhile, the public transport provider is further encouraging members of the public to purchase a copy of the bus schedule for their convenience.  These are available at the SPTC head office for R5 and it can also be accessed on the SPTC website www.sptc.sc.
