Visitors get special welcome on Tourism Day |29 September 2014
To mark the International Day of Tourism celebrated on September 27, a special welcome ceremony was organised by the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) for visitors landing at the Seychelles International Airport on Saturday.
Present at the airport for the special welcome ceremony were STB’s chief executive Sherin Naiken, STB staff members and members of the press.
Instead of being bedecked with a flower garland as has been done in the past, this year the visitors received a token of Seychelles that they can keep as souvenirs.
Speaking to Seychelles Nation Ms Naiken said: “We use this ceremony as a gesture to sensitise the tourists on the International Tourism Day and also to show that tourism is our bread and butter, it is our main industry. While the world is celebrating Tourism Day, our celebration takes another dimension, we are celebrating the pillar of our economy.”
The coco-de-mer nut keyrings were among the tokens the visitors received.
