Beau Vallon was once again the host to various watersports activities at the 2014 Regatta and along with the leisure activities, some athletes were also competing in events such as the popular Ironman races and sailing.

Of course the Ironman races is always the main attraction, where teams of three compete in a three-legged race consisting of running, canoeing and swimming, with a member of each team assigned to one of the disciplines.

There were four categories in this year’s ironman races – male and female under 15 and male and female over 15.

In the male ironman under 15 race it was team Adidas comprising Damien Payet, Ryan Alcindor and Bertrand Payet who finished as the winners in 20 minutes 19 seconds (20:19), ahead of Macho (Luke Miller, Luca Soleil and Joshua Miller) in second place with a time of 21:53. Billabong (Mario Cecile, Trevor Lespoir and Daniel Joubert) finished third in 21:59.

For the female under 15 category, it was the team of Charlotte Passon, Valentina and Alice Rigamonti who finished in first place, and their time was 26:11.

Second place went to team CAA (Christel Cecile, Alexandra Sophola and Anne Lise Mondon) who finished with a time of 27:01.

The female over 15 race was won by ABC Keales (Leyla Rigamonti, Zoe Barois and Felicity Passon) in 19:47. Beach Girl comprising Alica Riomenti, Maria Marzorchi and Anisha Payet finished in second position in a time of 22:03, while Rainy Teen (Valerie Payet, Lucy Talbot and Claire Pares) finished third in 23:41.

For the men, it was team Flash made up of Samuel Moustache, Tony Lespoir and Dean Hoffman who were the winners, finishing the race in 17:16. In second place was the team of Romain Del, Dimitri Tarpil and Vincent Pageault with a time of 21:04, followed by the Life Guard team in 21:33.

The Regatta also featured the sailing event, where Allan Julie was the big winner after two races. He finished first in the Laser Standard class, ahead of Govinden twin brothers Roy and Rodney. The Laser radial class was won by Meggy Gertrude, with Brad André winning the Laser 4.7 class.
