Air Seychelles launches health and fitness programme |01 October 2014

Air Seychelles has launched a health and fitness programme to promote the well-being of its workforce.

The ‘Commit to be fit’ campaign was launched at the airline’s headquarters at Pointe Larue, where staff received a health check from the Ministry of Health and had their baseline weight, Body Mass Index, blood sugar and blood pressure levels recorded.

Over the course of the next three months, the campaign will encourage staff to improve their health by taking part in a programme of weekly activities that include Zumba and aerobics classes, nature walks and talks on nutrition and cardiovascular health delivered by the Ministry of Health.

Air Seychelles’ chief executive, Manoj Papa, said: “Having a healthy and productive workforce is vital for Air Seychelles if it is to achieve its ambition of becoming the best airline in the region.

“Our most valuable assets are undoubtedly our employees, and our aim is to ensure each and every staff member is equipped with the tools they need to lead a healthy lifestyle.

“With the support of the Ministry of Health, this campaign will combine exciting education and fitness activities to ensure the health and well-being of our staff.”

As an added incentive, a final health check will be performed at the conclusion of the campaign in December, where employees who have demonstrated commitment and progress will be recognised for their efforts.

This campaign follows an initiative in July where over one hundred Air Seychelles staff received free eye tests.
