5c increase in electricity tariff for next quarter |02 October 2014

There will be an increase of five cents (5 cents) to the electricity tariff for this quarter effective October 1 to December 31, 2014 for all consumers and in all sectors, be it domestic, industrial or commercial.

The chairman of the Seychelles Energy board, Wills Agricole, made the announcement yesterday, noting that the average fuel price has gone up during the period under the electricity tariff review.

“The increase of fuel prices during the period under review has a  major bearing on PUC’s operational and maintenance costs, hence the adjustment,” said Mr Agricole.

Electricity prices will drop, rise or stay the same quarterly depending on the prevailing cost of fuel.
The next review will be announced in January 2015.
