Airport hosts mini craft fair for Festival Kreol |31 October 2014

The Seychelles International Airport joined in the Festival Kreol celebrations by hosting its first ever craft fair to promote the richness and diversity of the Seychelles culture to tourists and members of the public.

This event which was held over two days last weekend was organised by the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) in partnership with the Small Enterprise Promotion Agency (Senpa) and Skychef.

The vendors were happy to have the chance to display their local products outside the Skychef restaurant and the opportunity to interact with passengers and airport users to promote their work.

Lina Laurence, the SCAA’s public relations manager, said the SCAA has always been a faithful sponsor of the Festival Kreol and “again this year we wanted to further promote this event since the airport is the gateway to Seychelles”.

Among the variety of locally made products on sale were paintings, jewellery, fibrecraft, handicraft, wood carvings and stained glass.

Those who appreciate local craftwork were not disappointed by what the artisans had to offer.

The highlight of both days was a Happy Hour at Skychef restaurant from 6pm to 10pm where the stall which offered a variety of Creole dishes was very popular among locals and tourists as well.

Passers by were also very satisfied with Leko Band and their local dancers who entertained them with traditional dances and well known Creole songs.
