Preparations under way for National Show 2015 |26 November 2014

Preparations for next year’s National Show as part of the National Day festivities are under way.

The preparations of what is to be the 3rd National Show were launched on Monday afternoon by the chairman of the organising sub-committee Michel Vielle in a short ceremony at the STC (Seychelles Trading Company) conference room on Latanier Road.

Present were the other members of the sub-committee, members of the National Day Organising Committee, representatives of ministries and organisations involved in the organisation of the National Day celebrations, and the show’s potential participants.

Mr Vielle, who also organised the second show in 2013, has described the coming one as “historic”.
This is because after constitutional amendments earlier this year, it is the first time that National Day will be celebrated on June 29 which is Independence Day. The National Show will open at 10am on June 27 and close at 4pm on June 29, just before the National Day Parade.

While the main venue will remain the entire area around the Roche Caiman sports complex, next year’s National Show will be extended to Eden Island.  The Eden Island part will bring a new dimension to the event in the form of a boat show on the island’s newly constructed marina known as Marina B. A floating restaurant will also be set up there.

Mr Vielle has explained that his sub-committee has decided to start preparations early so that the participants can have enough time to prepare themselves.
A member of the National Day organising committee, Antoine Marie-Moustache, has promised that next year’s event will be a “big thing”.

“It’s going to be a big thing with added attractions. What is most important is that everybody can take part. This is vital because the show is for us Seychellois and provides an opportunity for clients to make themselves known. It is also an occasion to show our achievements as a country in all aspects: social, industrial, artistic, educational, commercial, cultural, sports and others,” he said.

Businesses as well as public organisations willing to take part in the 2015 National Show will be able to register by January 15, 2015. In view of space limitation, participation will be on ‘first come first allocate basis’.
