President Michel meets Airtel Africa boss |27 November 2014

Airtel Africa’s managing director and chief executive Christian De Faria paid a courtesy call on President James Michel at State House yesterday afternoon accompanied by the Airtel Seychelles managing director Amadou Dina.

Mr De Faria is in Seychelles for the official launch of the 4G Network (Long Term Evolution 800 MHz network) by Airtel Seychelles, the first to take place in the Africa network of Airtel. The launch ceremony took place last night at the Eden Bleu Hotel, on Eden Island.

President James Michel congratulated Airtel Seychelles for this technological advancement and encouraged the communications group to continue to develop better services and faster internet for the Seychellois public.

Mr De Faria thanked the Seychelles government for its support in the expansion of the services and expressed his commitment to the growth of the Seychelles operations.

They also discussed the Airtel operations across Africa as well as future plans for development of new projects.

The meeting was also attended by the secretary general in the Office of the President, Lise Bastienne; the group chief regulatory officer of Airtel, Emmanuel Mamadou Kolade, executive operations director - strategic business unit for leadership markets of Airtel Africa,  VG Somasekhar; and the head regulatory affairs & public relations at Airtel Seychelles, Gail Talma Jumeau.
