Fabrice Nicole wins SCAA drawing contest |12 December 2014

Fabrice Nicole from Beau Vallon is the grand winner of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) ‘Young Aviators’ drawing competition launched recently.
The aim of the competition was to help engage the youths in appreciating and celebrating the role of safe and reliable civil aviation services in their communities and regions.

The competition was organised under the theme ‘Aviation – Bringing the World Together’.

In a small ceremony held last week at the SCAA headquarters, the winners received their prizes from the SCAA chief executive Gilbert Faure, in the presence of former President James Mancham, SCAA staff and the winners’ parents.

The second prize of the competition was won by Elisha Sofola, followed in third place by Ashley Green.

A total of 26 drawings were submitted and the winners were selected by a committee comprising representatives from the SCAA and its aviation stakeholders which included Island Development Company, Zil Air and Air Seychelles.

The two youngest artists received a special prize for Best Effort. They are Kaleb Athanase and Illyana Hoareau, both aged six.

As prizes the winners received certificates and cash prizes.

All those who took part in the competition will receive a certificate of participation and a token from the SCAA.

Speaking to Seychelles NATION Fabrice said: “It was only two weeks before the due date that my teacher approached me telling me about this competition. First I wanted to draw an aircraft floating the Seychelles flag with all the other flags. But after discussing my idea with my teacher she said why not instead of flags draw people of different races and nationalities. And my drawing represent different countries joining together to come to Seychelles.”

The SCAA has expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the quality of artwork submitted.

The organisation has said it will use the winning drawing on its public relations materials.
