Seychelles introduces TripAdvisor award ceremony |24 January 2015

The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) will be recognising and rewarding those passionate about the tourism industry this year through the TripAdvisor award.

TripAdvisor is one of the biggest travel websites in the world, encouraging competitions between destinations, tourism-related establishments, tour operators and the likes. So being chosen as one of the best based on positive consumer reviews, would be an honour for Seychellois tourism-related businesses and services.

Set to be launched in March this year, the award will recognise the efforts of all Seychelles-based recipients at a national level. A TripAdvisor representative will be present at the ceremony to hand over the prizes to the awardees.

The Seychelles-based TripAdvisor award will serve as a marketing tool, building up the winners’ reputation. Previously the award certificate was sent by mail and the winners unless backed by the right marketing team, remained unknown most of the time. With this new initiative to host a TripAdvisor award ceremony, everybody will know about their achievements through coverage, publicity with photos and articles that will be posted on STB websites and featured in the press.

It will encourage tourism-related businesses to first of all impress their clients with good quality products and excellent customer services and in return, get them to post positive comments on tripadvisor.com.  

The winners’ achievements and exposure will encourage those performing poorly to step up their game in order to avoid negative posts/comments on the website.
Through recognition of this award, STB chief executive Sherin Naiken said individuals will become more aware of online booking agencies because they can make or break you.

The TripAdvisor award ceremony will surely now become a staple on the STB’s calendar of events.
