Police communiqué jan |27 January 2015

The police have reported that 79-year-old James Sifflore of Anse aux Pins who was hit by a car on December 27, 2014 opposite the Cast Away Fishing Lodge at Au Cap at around 11.25pm, passed away at 7.30pm in the Male Medical Ward at the Seychelles Hospital on Sunday January 25, 2015.


Mr Sifflore was transferred to the Male Medical Ward on Saturday January 24, 2015 after being admitted in the intensive care unit since his accident last year.

The police are investigating a case whereby a 27-year-old lady of Anse aux Pins was sexually assaulted not far from the Carefree Guest House on Sunday January 25, 2015 at around 3am, while coming from the Katiolo Discotheque.

According to the victim, arriving near the Carefree Guest House, her abuser pulled her into a footpath, threatened her with a knife and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect, a 24-year-old also of Anse aux Pins, was arrested shortly after the incident was reported to the police. He was brought to the Magistrate Court yesterday morning, and has been remanded until February 6, 2015 on which date he will reappear before court.

Also at Anse aux Pins, a case is being investigated where three men were involved in a fight on Saturday January 24, 2015 during a party at the Dolphin Court.

The police had to bring one of the men to the hospital where he received medical attention as he had received a cut on his right hand and burn on his face, neck and chest.
