The 60-year-old was attacked while confronting the suspect who was attempting to break into the home of his neighbour at La Louise. Fortunately the victim was treated and later released.

The incident was reported to the police at around 3.30pm.
The suspect who was apprehended sometimes later by the police was brought to court yesterday and has been remanded until February 11, 2015.

The police are also investigating the sudden death of Alphy Simeon of Maldive while awaiting postmortem result to establish his exact cause of death.
The incident was reported to the police at around 8.35pm on Wednesday night by his uncle whom he was living with.

According to initial investigation, Simeon was brought to hospital for medical attention on January 20 and discharged himself after he refused to be admitted.

His uncle reported that on Wednesday he had left the house at around 11am and upon his return home at around 8.30pm his nephew was not responding so he informed the police.

Fifty-year-old Simeon spent 14 days in custody when the police were investigating the death of Damienne Morel in November last year. Request for his further remand was later set aside together with another suspect. A third suspect, Ms Morel’s ex-husband, was also arrested at that time and he has since been charged with murder.

The police have opened an investigation into a case whereby a 13-year-old girl was conveyed to the Casualty at the Seychelles Hospital yesterday afternoon after she was hit by a pick-up at Plaisance not far from Ezzy Garage.

According to the victim, the accident happened when a dog from a house nearby was coming towards her and her 12-year-old friend.  Afraid of being bitten by the dog, they suddenly moved backwards and she was hit by a truck which was heading towards Victoria. The girl was conveyed to hospital by the truck driver.
She received treatment for a minor cut above her left eye and was released.
The accident was reported to the police by a nurse at 2.56pm.
