Seypec gets new industrial firefighting foam pumper |27 February 2015

Seychelles Petroleum Company (Seypec) has acquired a new foam pumper. The industrial firefighting foam pumper was officially handed over to the company by Nico Oberholzer, Marce representative from Marce Firefighting Technology in South Africa, one of the leading specialised manufacturers of firefighting vehicles.

The key to the truck was received on behalf of Seypec by the company’s operations manager Ray Hoareau.
Also on the agenda was a token of appreciation in the form of a framed photograph of the firefighting foam pumper from Marce through its representative.
The firefighting truck boasts a 7,000 litre foam tank capacity.

This was followed by a demonstration of the new firefighting foam pumper.
Mr Oberholzer was in the country conducting familiarisation training on the use of the equipment for both Seypec and the Fire & Rescue Services Agency staff in both theory and practical sessions.

Those who took part in the training received their certificates before the official handover of the truck.
Prior to the shipping of the truck, Seypec’s manager for protection services Alain de l’Etourdie and maintenance manager Didier Harmegines attended a factory acceptance test in South Africa.

Seypec operates in conformity with international standards and it has recently increased its fuel storage tanks capacity by an additional 65,000 cubic metres at its Victoria installation. As such, an increase in fuel capacity calls for adequate and appropriate firefighting tools as per international Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, hence the purchase of its very own site foam pumper. This will allow for greater flexibility as it is now better equipped and prepared should any fire incidents arise.
