Seychelles joins in World Day of Prayer |05 March 2015

Seychellois women, as well as men, are being invited for a religious service tomorrow starting at 4.30pm at St. Paul’s Cathedral to mark the World Day of Prayer.

The World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of Christian women of many traditions in 70 countries and regions who have a continuing relationship in prayer and service. Seychelles is a member of the movement through its national committee comprising members of the Mother’s Union from the Anglican Church and Catholic Mères des Familles.

Through the World Day of Prayer, women around the world affirm their faith in Jesus Christ; share their hopes and fears, their joys and sorrows, their opportunities and needs; and are encouraged to become aware of the whole world and not to live in isolation.

Each year, on the first Friday of March women all over the world come together to take up the burdens of other people and observe a common day praying with and for them.

“This year, the service has been written by Christian women of the Bahamas. As the sun rises on March 6, country by country will be celebrating Women’s World Day of Prayer with and for our sisters from the Bahamas on the theme of ‘Jesus said to them: Do you know what I have done to you?’” a spokesperson for the national committee said.

“Increasingly more men and youth are attending the service and praying with the women of all denominations. If you attend the service, you will hear about Jesus and his radical love and the issues that concern the women of the Bahamas,” added the spokesperson.

Prayer for the month: ‘Jesus as you washed your disciples’ feet, bathe us in your refreshing spirit’.
