The man accused of murder in the death of 29-year-old George Robert has been declared not guilty.

The nine-member jury pronounced the much awaited verdict after 9pm on Wednesday, bringing to an end the trial of the accused, Christian Cafrine, after several weeks.

Eight of the nine members of the jury found the accused not guilty while only one did not agree with the verdict.

Mr Robert died as a result of a stab wound he received on the right side of his neck during an incident which happened at Anse Parnel on November 10, 2013.
Mr Cafrine, suspect in that incident, had been remanded at Montagne Posée prison since then.

Meanwhile the trial of the accused in the death of Rita Alphonse of Anse Boileau will start next week as the selection of members of the jury was completed yesterday.
