Kannu’s Group sponsors early childhood terminology directory |02 April 2015

The Kannu’s Group has sponsored R50,000 towards the production and printing of the ‘Seychelles Early Childhood Care and Education Terminology Directory’.

Kannan Pillay and Shanmougasundaram Pillay – respectively managing director and director of the Kannu’s Group – officially handed over the terminology directory to the chief executive of the Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD), Shirley Choppy, during a short ceremony on Tuesday at the Kannu’s Group head office, Michel Building.

The ECCE terminology directory, which is a first of its kind, is a comprehensive guide to the most commonly used terminologies in early childhood in Seychelles.  The process of developing this project and such a document was a unique collaborative effort of a group of professionals dedicated to the further advancement of early childhood development in Seychelles. They came from the ministries most directly concerned with early childhood care and education – namely Health, Education, Social Affairs, Community Development and Sports.  The directory emanated from the National Action Plan for ECCE 2013-2014 and it was launched at the 3rd Biennial National Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education recently.

Both Messrs Kannan and Shan Pillay have expressed their satisfaction towards the realisation of such project and have pledged their on-going support towards future projects of the Institute in the area of early childhood development.

On her part, Mrs Choppy thanked the Kannu’s Group for their financial support for the terminology directory project and welcomed their initiative to help IECD on future projects.  

“The IECD looks forward to working with the Kannu’s Group and maintaining the good partnership established,” said Mrs Choppy.
