The best performers and outstanding performers were rewarded with special prizes and Clyvie Delpech, a mature student who followed a diploma course in construction under the City & Guilds programme, scooped the coveted President’s Cup and the City & Guilds Shield after scoring the highest number of distinctions in the international diploma programme.

President James Michel presented Clyvie with the President’s Cup and a laptop.
Clyvie also won numerous other prizes sponsored by different companies and organisations.

This was during a ceremony held yesterday afternoon at the International Conference Centre (ICCS) and attended by President Michel, different ministers, high government officials, members of the National Assembly as well as parents and relatives of the students among other guests.

Awards for best performers on the certificate programme went to Angelo Athanase who studied electrical installation, Mario Estico painting and decorating, Kurt Esparon plumbing and Gaell Alexis refrigeration & air-conditioning.

Best performers award on the advanced certificate programme went to Kenny Hoareau who followed a course in carpentry and joinery, Ryan Jules electrical and electronics, Trevor Germain masonry, Kerris Lepere mechanical engineering and Julio Louise motor vehicle mechanics.

Neddy Sanguillon who studied for an advanced certificate in mechanical engineering, Darren Marimba who studied for a certificate in plumbing and Oliver Dugasse who studied for an advanced certificate in masonry were the other award recipients.

In a vote of thanks on behalf of all her colleague Clyvie thanked all the lecturers and the management of SIT for their patience and support during their years of  studies as well as their parents who have encouraged and urged them to persevere.

“It was not always easy for all of us especially at the beginning,” Clyvie pointed out.
She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government for making available resources to make studies possible for so many students. She also called on her fellow graduates to always take their responsibility in whatever they do in their lives and to work hard to show their worth.

Clyvie, 27, completed her A-Levels studies in 2006 before taking employment as a marketing officer, then a tennis coach before finally deciding to follow the course of her choice at SIT in 2012.

“Today I am really proud and happy to have realised my dream and this is because I knew what I wanted and when I took the course I had set my goal and I knew what I wanted and I worked towards achieving it,” Clyvie said.

Now a technician engineer at Adenco Consultancy at Union Vale, Clyvie has great plans for the future and her advice to students is: “know what you want and work towards achieving it.”
