IOT rewards workers |28 April 2015

Four workers of the Indian Ocean Tuna Ltd (IOT) have received best employee and supervisor awards for the fourth quarter of 2014 (October to December) and  the first quarter of 2015 (January to March).

The employees were recognised and rewarded during a short ceremony the IOT organised at its headquarters at the New Port last week.

The employee awards for the year 2014 went to Jimmy Kilindo, a senior driver, while that for the 2015 went to Reynaldo Bragais, a forklift driver.
The supervisor awards for the year 2014 went to Rukiah Abdallah and that for 2015 went to Jordana Cesar.

Mr Kilindo has been working with the IOT for 14 years. He believes that the working environment is pleasant, for both employers and employees. Mr Kilindo is considered by his superiors and work colleague to be an exemplary senior driver.

Mr Reynaldo has been working with IOT for 17 years. He said that he enjoys working with the cannery and proof is the long years of dedicated service.

Ms Cesar also clocked in 17 years of service. She started as an ordinary employee at the bottom level and then progressed with time. She is now a senior supervisor. She is an active member of the IOT Employee Work Council. It is the second time Ms Cesar wins such an award.

Ms Abdallah, who was not present at the ceremony, has been working with the IOT for five years. She is now a supervisor. Her team consistently delivers performances above targets.

The IOT general manager Joram Madnack explained that this award is just one of the many incentives the IOT offers its employees to show how much they   are valued and appreciated.

“IOT works hard to deliver a much better environment for our workers, a good working environment is a place where you can enjoy your work, and be a leader and a role model,” Francois Rossi, operations manager, pointed out.

The nominees are assessed on their performances, and qualities such as timekeeping, attendance, appropriate behaviour and personality, compliance with hygiene as well as safety and much more.

All four award winners hope that in the future they can still progress and grow.
It is worth noting that most supervisors have started out at ordinary employee level.
