Cycling - Arissol breaks two records in two days |04 May 2015

Reigning cyclist of the year, Ahmad Arissol showed why he is currently the best in the sport as he erased two records in a single weekend.

The first of Arissol’s records came on Saturday, in the 99.4km Road Race which started and ended at Petit Paris. The Life Cycle Club rider managed to finish the race in 2 hours, 26 minutes and 14 seconds (2h 26.14), to obliterate Francis Louis’ time of 2h 35.01 set in August last year.

Two other cyclists also managed to finish ahead of Louis’ time and they were second placed Ricky Rosalie and third placed Fadi Confiance, both with a time of 2h 28.50.

Francis Louis could only manage a time of 2h 38.58 to finish in fourth position this time.

Arissol’s second record came in the 24.2km individual time trial event, which began and ended at the Roche Tortue monument at Pointe Larue.

This time it was Eldrick Roucou’s record time of 32 minutes and 30.18 seconds (32:30.18) set in January this year that fell, as Arissol stopped the clock at 31:13.01 to cap a wonderful weekend for the overall leader.

Dominic Arrisol was extremely close behind, with a time of 31:13.24, while Fadi Confiance finished in third place with a time of 31:30.02.

The two wins ensure Arissol remains as the overall leader with a total of 968 points after 24 races, with Fadi Confiance losing ground as he sits in second place with 704 points. Peter Alphonse, who failed to get on the podium this weekend lies in third place with a total of 552 points.
