Year-round voter registration starts today |18 May 2015

As of today regional registration centres will open on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue in specific administration offices and the Electoral Commission office in Aarti Chambers for the different electoral areas to make easier access for voters to register all throughout the year. This is as per the Elections Act Chapter 68A and the Elections (Amendment) Act 2014.

Chief electoral commissioner Hendricks Gappy said on Friday the office of the Electoral Commission has recruited new personnel to manage these centres which will open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.

The centres will remain close during the weekend and on public holidays.
Mr Gappy explained that throughout the year the registration centres will allow for the following applications to take place:
– Registration of new voters,
– Making objections,
– Transfer of voters from one electoral area to another,
– Making changes in demographic information.
Registration centres will be in the following places:
On Mahe
Electoral Commission's Office, Suite 203, Aarti Chambers, Mont Fleuri
for the electoral areas of Anse Etoile, English River, Mont Buxton, St Louis, Bel Air, Mont Fleuri, Plaisance, Roche Caïman, Les Mamelles as well as all other electoral areas of Seychelles.
Beau Vallon district administration office for Beau Vallon, Bel Ombre and Glacis
Anse Aux Pins district administration office for Anse Aux Pins, Cascade and Pointe Larue
Anse Royale district administration office for Anse Royal, Au Cap and Takamaka
Anse Boileau district administration office for Anse Boileau, Baie Lazare, Grand Anse Mahe
and Port Glaud

On Praslin
Baie St Anne Praslin district administration office for Baie St Anne Praslin and Grand Anse Praslin
On La Digue
La Digue district administration office for Inner Islands
A copy of the Register of Voters is also available in all district administration offices for inspection.
Meanwhile, Mr Gappy has said all residents of Perseverance have to register at the Electoral Commission's Office, Suite 203, Aarti Chambers, Mont Fleuri under the English River electoral area.
