Finance minister visits Seypec |27 June 2015

The Minister for Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy Jean-Paul Adam recently undertook his first familiarisation visit at the Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited (Seypec) to get a first-hand overview of the firm’s operations.

He was accompanied by the principal secertary for finance Patrick Payet.

The visit is one of the initiatives for the minister to be informed and have first-hand overview of the operations of public enterprises reporting to his ministry.

Seypec is one of the companies that fall into this category.

The management and staff of the company, led by its chief executive Conrad Benoiton, welcomed the minister and his delegation who were given a briefing on the operations of Seypec.

The delegation also visited the offices and the New Port depot facilities to see important operational aspects of the firm’s depot such as storage capacity, workshops, safety equipment and procedures as well as an opportunity to interact with the staff in their working environment.

During his visit, Minister Adam was presented with a token of appreciation by long-serving staff Antonio Laporte on behalf of the staff of Seypec.

Seypec, established in 1985 with a workforce of almost 200 staff, is playing a key role in supporting the country’s economy and development.

Its operations revolve around the supply of fuel to the domestic market, bunkering of vessels, aviation refuelling activities and the management of its shipping arm.

One of its main roles is providing and distributing petroleum products such as motor gasoline, (leaded and unleaded), gasoil (diesel), fuel oil, Jet A-1, Aviation Gasoline (AVGAS), lubricants and liquid petroleum gas (LPG).

The visit will help to streamline collaboration and operational procedures between the Ministry of Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy and Seypec to further facilitate the economic development of the country.
