A blend of old and new brings entertainment to National Show |04 July 2015

A blend of old tunes and new music reverberated in a musical show organised as part of last weekend’s National Show.

Songs like ‘Au Claire de la Lune’, ‘Où est la Marguerite’, Gran Manman Gran Manman Bebe’, ‘Lafen di mwan pa ankor arive’,’ Savez-Vous Planter les Choux,’, which were sung and danced to by our older generation in their younger days, alternated with the rhythmic beats of our sega and moutya dances and the more classy rhythm of the kanmtole performed by the youths.

These performances brought lively entertainment to the National Show held at the National Sports Council (NSC) hall and its surroundings on the occasion of our National Day which was being celebrated for the first time on June 29, jointly with the anniversary of Independence Day.

While the younger generation danced away to the rhythmic beats of the sega, moutya and kanmtole, Latroup Trwazyenm-Az also had some surprises of their own with those old favourites. They interpreted a mixture of slow, sentimental and rhythmic songs of both local and international artists, to the appreciation of the crowd present.

Songs of the late Paquerette Labrosse like ‘Kirmol in vin Ponp Labou’, ‘Bato Lafarin’ and still much appreciated international oldies like ‘La Fille qui Pleurait” by Linda de Souza and songs of Judy Boucher, were on the agenda.

Both groups were accompanied by the Latroup Kiltirel Nasyonal band.

The accompanying photographs show highlights of the performances.
