Seychelles invited to attend 3rd India-Africa forum summit |07 July 2015

Seychelles have been invited to attend the third India-Africa forum summit (IAFS-III) which will take place on October 29 in New Delhi, India.

The letters of invitation were delivered yesterday to the Seychelles Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport Joel Morgan and the principal secretary for foreign affairs Maurice Lousrau-lalanne by the special envoy of the Republic of India, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy on behalf of the Minister for External Affairs of the Republic of India, Sushma Swaraj.

After accepting the invitation, Minister Morgan and his Indian counterpart held informal talks at Maison Queau de Quinssy and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of India and the Republic of Seychelles.

“Our fraternal ties with India extend beyond our excellent diplomatic and economic relationship, they are deeply rooted in our shared history as two sovereign nations bathed by the same Indian ocean,” said Minister Morgan.

Both Minister Morgan and Ambassador Loustau-Lalanne accepted the invitation with much pride and had given firm commitments to attend the summit.

Minister Morgan said: “Seychelles goes to the summit not only as an African state but also as demonstration to the world of how the world’s largest democracy and one of the smallest ones can work together for their mutual benefit and for that of their peoples.”

Also present at the meeting yesterday morning was the Indian high commissioner to Seychelles, Sanjay Panda.
