Barclays launches cash back points of sale |03 August 2015

The public is now able to use their debit card to pay for their shopping as the Cashback Point of Sale is being made available in retail shops by Barclays.

The Cashback Point of Sale (POS) was launched at the Bel Air store recently by officials from Barclays who also demonstrated the use of the machine.

“The cash back is an additional service that we are offering on the existing Point of Sale which we have and in the meantime our POS allowed our clients to have only one purchase which we call a sale,” said James Savy, merchant executive of Barclays.

He adds that the client will be able to do cash back of R2500 per transaction only. The machine will not allow a transaction of more than the R2500.

The retail director of Barclays, Fabiola Horner, said that when the clients need to withdraw cash then the shops can offer the facility to withdraw rather than the clients having to withdraw from an ATM.

The public can access their money at the retail shop on spot where they can use up to R2500 per transaction as long as a purchase has taken place.

Managing director of Barclays, James Kinyali, said that the R2500 is a convenience price and if in time they need to improve and the R2500 is too high then they will find a balance.

He assures the public that the use of this machine is safe and there is no need to fear when it comes to the safety of using the cash back.

Mr Kinyali demonstrated how the procedure would take place when someone makes any purchase using the cash back.

The clients will receive a receipt whenever they use the cash back and the amount of money the clients asks to be withdrawn will be taken from their debit card.

The service will be available on all of Barclay’s POS on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue where the Barclays POS can be found.

The machine can be found at the Bel Air store and nine other shops who have partnered with Barclays as part of their POS.

The cash back is an international initiative which has now reached Seychelles and will be a service providing facilitation to the public who needs to withdraw money on spot.
