JOUEL opens 5th boutique on Mahé, 9th in Seychelles |27 August 2015

Jewellery and luxury gifts retailer JOUEL has achieved yet another milestone following the opening of its fifth boutique on Mahé. This brings to nine the number of JOUEL boutiques in the whole of Seychelles.

This latest JOUEL boutique situated in the idyllic 200-year-old traditional plantation house of La Plaine St André, Au Cap, enables JOUEL to be closer to its guests residing or holidaying in the area.

The opening of the boutique took place last Friday evening during a ceremony  attended by some of JOUEL’s most loyal customers as well as some trade partners whose  close working relationships has led to the prosperity of JOUEL.

The new boutique has extended opening hours during certain days which will allow for JOUEL guests to shop at leisure and explore JOUEL’s different luxurious offerings.

The chosen area also allows the guests to shop closer to home and is in line with the government’s move to shift some commercial activities towards the south-eastern part of Mahé.

JOUEL, the home-grown Seychelles brand which has been in existence for over 10 years, is well established and flourishing on the local business scene. In 2004, JOUEL started with only one main outlet trading under the name of Diamond S.A.  Now in 2015, JOUEL is operating in eight other locations across Seychelles which include Mahé, Praslin, Alphonse, North Island and Fregate Island Private.

The general manager of JOUEL, Agnes Naidoo-Legras, attributes the success of the business extension to first and foremost the dedicated team of JOUEL, as well as the loyal customers of JOUEL, without whose loyalty would not have been possible.

“And this is why tonight, some of our most loyal customers and key trade partners form part of our special invitees to the boutique’s opening cocktail,” she said.

“JOUEL is not just a range of high-end jewellery, it is an experience in itself. Hence La Plaine St André, in its idyllic setting, with both the ocean and the lush green fauna, adds value to our guest experience. The setting is also depicted in JOUEL’s jewellery offerings in the tropical collection. The house also adds to our guest experience at La Plaine St André, as they can then either proceed to sampling the menu or visiting the Takamaka rum distillery,” she added.

Proudly managed by an all-Seychellois team of professionals, JOUEL has become the luxury brand of Seychelles. It is highly visited by both locals and tourists alike. According to the company’s most recent research, guests buy from JOUEL for their own personal use and is the first go-to boutique when gift giving. Additionally many buy JOUEL’s offerings as a mean of investments, especially the most coveted and rare Tanzanite gemstone.

Rachel Sullivan, a loyal JOUEL guest, said she loves JOUEL “for the variety of jewellery” whereas Angela Quinn mentioned that she knows she always gets “very nice offering” and always comes out happy and never has to take anything back for repairs, highlighting how it’s always pleasant to just walk in and browse around.

Ms Naidoo-Legras noted that another reason why guests keep coming back is because JOUEL is one of the only 80 diamond site-holders in the whole world. This enables JOUEL to have direct access to rough stones to make its own selections, as a result of which JOUEL’s diamond offering is priced 15% to 20% lower than other major retail hubs.

The cocktail at La Plaine St André cocktail was well attended, with the acclaimed band ‘Collective Soul’ serenading the guests as they visited the boutique and shared anecdotes on their favourite JOUEL experience.

The night ended with a raffle where one winner took home an elegant jewellery box set with a silver turtle and another took home a mother of pearl platter set with its silver platted octopus.

JOUEL La Plaine St André is opened from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Tuesday and from 9am to 9.30 pm Wednesday to Saturday. It is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
