Prisoner Vincenzo Dogley dies on Coetivy |05 September 2015

Prisoner Vincenzo Dogley, 24, died yesterday at the open prison on Coetivy.

According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Home Affairs, a preliminary report showed the inmate fell from the back of a pick-up truck and died later.

The police have opened an investigation into his death.

Dogley, aged 24, was sentenced to eight years imprisonment in June 2013. He was at the Montagne Posée prison until April 28, 2015 when he was transferred to Coetivy. He was due to be released on June 18, 2017.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Prison Authority have extended their sympathy to the family and friends of Vincenzo Dogley.
