Sailing - Andre finishes seventh at African Championships |10 October 2015

Scott Andre claimed a seventh place finish at the Optimist African Championship held in Oran, Algeria.

The competition which began on September 30 and ended on October 8 saw four young Seychellois sailors compete alongside 67 other contestants from around the African continent.

A total of 10 races took place in the Optimist class where Andre finished with a total of 120 points after claiming three top-10 positions. His highest finish was eighth place, while the lowest was 25th.

Ryan Alcindor managed the best result in any race by a Seychellois, finishing third in race number four and fourth in race number six. His overall finish though was 18th position with 166 points.

Dominique Labrosse finished in 22nd position overall with 211 points. His best result was 10th place and his worst was a 48th position.

The fourth Seychellois sailor who took part in the competition was Loïc d’Offay and he accumulated 302 points to finish in 53rd place among the 71 entrants. His best result was a 19th place finish in race number eight.

It was Algeria’s Hichem Mokhtari who won the competition with 61 points, followed by Diogo Sanches of Mozambique with 76 points, while another Algerian, Mohamed Kebaili, was ranked third with 86 points.
