Samantha Aglaé appointed NHRC member |10 October 2015

Samantha Aglaé has been appointed member of the National Human Rights Commission.

The Office of the President made the announcement yesterday.

Ms Aglaé, who was nominated by the Speaker of the National Assembly in accordance with the Protection of Human Rights Act, will fill the vacancy created by the departure of Farzana Jumaye.

Holder a degree in law from the University of Mauritius, Ms Aglaé has worked as a senior prosecutor and senior legal draftsperson in the Office of the Attorney General from 2008 to 2012, and is currently practising as private Attorney at Law and Notary Public.

The other two members of the National Human Rights Commission are Dora Zatte (chairperson) and retired judge Ranjan Perera.
