‘Tourism trade fairs are the place to make one's mark,’ says Minister St Ange |06 November 2015

The Seychelles delegation at this week’s World Travel Market (WTM) in London have been hard at it in meetings aimed at keeping the islands visible in the competitive world of tourism.

The homely Seychelles stand has been busy with the delegation feeling the effects of renewed interest in the islands by the British tour operators and media.

Alain St Ange, the island's Minister for Tourism and Culture, said he has rarely had so many press and media interviews that Seychelles enjoyed at this year’s WTM.

“We have had television interviews as we did radio interviews. We met editors of the mainstream newspapers as we did interviews for glossy magazines and even appeared in the WTM daily TTG publication on the second day of the tourism trade fair,” said Minister St Ange.

“The tourism trade present at the World Travel Market are again partnering with the Seychelles Tourism Board to ensure Seychelles claims its fair share of the UK tourism market. If we are operating in Seychelles we must never be shy to be seen to be working together to increase the visibility of our islands; this is the only way we shall remain relevant as a tourism destination,” said Minister St Ange.

The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) remains the facilitators for the islands’ tourism industry and creating such platforms for everyone to work together for the continued success of the tourism industry of Seychelles.

“The tourism board went as far as offering a table at no charge to the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHTA) at the major tourism trade fairs where Seychelles is taking part. This offer was to give the smaller hotels and guest houses a chance for them to get seen and noticed. We did this after the association's home grown members and the association also expressed the need for such a support,” said Minister St Ange to a travel trade publication at the WTM 2015.
